ABOUT JP
JP Architecture is based in Melle in the Deux-Sevres department of Southwest France. Established by Justin Paterson who, after 22 years as a company director of a large UK firm of architects, made the life changing move, with his family, to France in 2018.

JP Architecture now operates out of Justins home; a beautiful and historic property in the centre of Melle. After converting a tower in the grounds into a holiday rental, we then turned our attention to the respectful renovation of the main house. The renovations have enhanced the already beautiful elements of the property, whilst bringing it up to modern day standards of comfort and technology - Now we focus on other peoples projects!

Renovating tired and broken old buildings has long been a passion that has run alongside the more commercial design aspects of running a multi-disciplined architectural practice.
The move to France has allowed us to focus more on the wonderful process of taking an unloved and forgotten property and gently breathing new life into it, whilst retaining its original charm.

Our approach is very much a team effort between you the client and us the consultant - we want to work with you and will take as much pride and care in the project as if it were our own.

Pre-Project Advice: We can help you understand what you have to work with, identify potential, establish feasibility and clarify your priorities.

Creative Design Solutions: Be it newbuild, renovation, conversion or extension, we can explore creative yet sensible and realistic design options with you to ultimately find the right solution for your project.

CU, DP and PC Planning Applications: We can help you through the French planning process including liaison with other consultants who may be required along the way.

THE PROCESS
A Friendly Straightforward Approach to Delivery
BRIEF & QUOTATION
Tell us your hopes and aims for your project. We will discuss your ideas in order to get a clear understanding of what you hope to achieve. We will then go away and produce a fee quotation for the different elements of the work you require.
SURVEY
Let us take accurate measurements of the property to fully understand the existing layout and context of the building. The drawings produced from these measurements will be the base from which to create your design solution.
DESIGN
Using the information collected and provided, alongside our understanding of design principles and the local vernacular, we will design a solution with you, making as many alterations as are necessary until you are completely satisfied, and hopefully excited, by the design proposal.
SUBMISSION
When you are happy with the design proposal, and if necessary, we will prepare an application and submit it to the local authorities for approval. We will follow the submission and liaise where necessary. If, after you receive the go ahead, you require help finding contractors, we will be happy to help!
